Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an artificial intelligence startup founded by former OpenAI chief scientist and co-founder Ilya Sutskever, has reportedly secured an additional $2 billion in funding. With this latest investment, SSI’s valuation has soared to $32 billion, according to The Financial Times.
Previously, SSI had raised $1 billion in initial funding, and reports suggested that another $1 billion round was in the pipeline. While SSI has not released an official statement, sources indicate that the latest round was led by investment firm Greenoaks.
Sutskever left OpenAI in May 2024 after being involved in an unsuccessful attempt to oust CEO Sam Altman. Shortly after, he launched SSI with Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, with a singular mission: to build a safe superintelligence.
So far, the company has not released a product to the public. SSI’s official website contains only a brief mission statement with no further details about their ongoing development.
