Amid the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future in the United States, the tech company has quietly begun testing a new platform called “TikTok for Artists”, aimed at helping musicians grow their careers. TikTok confirmed to TechCrunch that this platform provides various tools for artists to promote their songs, analyze their music performance, and engage with fans.
Currently, the platform is being tested in several countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and Indonesia. TikTok also plans to expand its reach to more countries in the future.
According to the initial report from Music Ally, TikTok for Artists allows musicians to create and run promotional campaigns for their latest songs on social media. They can use this platform to boost engagement and monetization, such as running album campaigns to encourage pre-saves on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, as well as selling exclusive merchandise.
Additionally, artists can access performance data to evaluate how well their songs and posts are received by the audience. The platform also provides insights into listener demographics, including information about the countries their fans are from.
Another feature of this platform is the ability to showcase fan videos and build their community. Selected fan videos will be displayed in the “Music Tab Fan Spotlight” section on the artist’s profile.
In the coming weeks, TikTok plans to reveal more details about this platform.
As one of the key players in driving music trends and making songs go viral, TikTok’s move to introduce a dedicated space for artists seems to be aimed at helping them maximize promotion and increase fan engagement. Additionally, this platform could assist artists in reaching a wider audience.
Interestingly, this launch comes just months after ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, decided to shut down TikTok Music, a music streaming service previously tested in several countries. At the time, the company stated that the decision was made to further strengthen TikTok’s role in increasing music consumption and adding more value to other music streaming services.
